Artist’s Statement

“Emotional Abstraction: The Flowing Landscapes of Internal Worlds”

I paint to explore the enigma that is the emotional creature; using the artistic process, I reveal the connection between us all. Each piece is a record of that journey, evoking an organic landscape that speaks to the complexity of humans in spirit and being with all our multitude and intensity of senses. By providing a window to that inward world, I invite you to connect with all at this portal.

The questions, options, and possibilities that art creates allow such exploration to enrich the spirit. As much as each piece becomes a ‘self’ portrait, others may find a mirror and some a map.

I work primarily in acrylic paints and oil pastels and present both raw and refined areas in each piece.

About the Artist

I was born and raised in Phoenix, AZ and moved to the Bay Area in 2007. I attended the University of Arizona in Tucson until 2003, where I participated in the Fine Arts program with my emphasis in painting and printmaking. Recently I have been working increasingly on abstract art and exploring concepts of contradiction and ambiguity.
